Reasons for Donating
We appreciate Christian Science nursing as part of Church. We believe development or fundraising efforts for Christian Science nursing supports the practice of Christian Science, the cause of Christian Science, and ultimately mankind.
We are grateful for the generous support Wide Horizon has historically received and continues to receive from many people in our region. With your help we will continue our service to the Christian Science community for future generations.
We are seeking far more than money to sustain Christian Science nursing at Wide Horizon. We are striving for a better understanding of our heavenly Father’s provision, and we are asking for your prayers. Contributions are not simply financial transactions. We hope they are inspired investments in what Wide Horizon is all about: caring for our guests and patients, and witnessing spiritual healing.
Your contributions, large or small, are inspired investments in caring for our guests and patients through Christian Science nursing, which directly supports the Christian Science healing practice.
You can contribute in the following ways:
General Fund – Essential funds to sustain Wide Horizon’s daily operations.
Wide Appeal for Sustainability – For invested reserves and urgent acute needs to sustain Wide Horizon for the long term.
Planned Giving – Leave a legacy to be remembered by future generations
Estate Bequests – Funds a donor has given to Wide Horizon upon their passing through a will or trust.
Life Income Gifts – Sizable gifts by donors to a charity that provide the donator with regular income during their lifetime.
Retirement Plans – Wide Horizon is named beneficiary of your retirement plan so that all or a part of its funds are distributed to Wide Horizon upon the passing of the donor.
Life Insurance Plans – By either gifting a policy outright or naming Wide Horizon as beneficiary your legacy will live on.
Naming Opportunities – Donors may purchase naming rights to all buildings and some interior spaces.
General Fund
Wide Horizon’s income from its Christian Science nursing services covers only part of its expenses through the year. From generous support of people like you, we make up the difference by receiving thousands of dollars for the General Fund, which is used to sustain daily operations.
Choose to donate to the Annual gift campaign (a one-time gift yearly) or to the Monthly campaign (a recurring monthly gift).
When you become a monthly contributor, you provide us with a steady and reliable income that allows us to plan more effectively and make the most of our donors’ dollars. Making a one-time gift to our Annual campaign, you help sustain our primary service of Christian Science nursing provided to our guests by Christian Science nurses 24/7 throughout the year.

Estate Bequests
The most common planned gifts are bequests. These may be gifts of personal property – such as money, stock, bonds or jewelry – through a provision in a will or trust to a person or an organization.
Sample bequest language is as follows:
And to Wide Horizon, located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, a 501(c)(3) charity, organized under the laws of the state of Colorado, I hereby give, devise, and bequeath $________ (alternatively a % of my estate) for its unrestricted use.
For more information on bequests, please contact your attorney and/or Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach, at 303-403-2450.
Life Income Gifts
Life Income Gifts are a contract that provides the donor a fixed income stream for life in exchange for a sizeable donation to a charity. Examples of Life Income Gifts are Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
For more information on these gift mechanisms, please consult an attorney or contact Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach, at Wide Horizon, 303-403-2450.
Retirement Plans
When Wide Horizon is named a beneficiary, the value of an Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and other qualified pension and profit-sharing plans can be transferred to Wide Horizon upon the passing of the donor tax-free.
For more information contact your attorney or Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach, at Wide Horizon, 303-403-2450.
Life Insurance Plans
According to Investopedia, “Donors who wish to leverage their cash donations to charity can use life insurance to accomplish their goals. By either gifting a policy outright or naming a charity as beneficiary, they can provide the charity of their choice with a large sum of money and provide a lasting legacy for a cause they believe in…Naming the charity of your choice as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy is the simplest way to provide a charity with the death benefit proceeds from a policy.” (Cussen)
For more information, please contact your attorney or Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach at Wide Horizon, 303-403-2450.

Naming Opportunities
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer, Founder, and Leader of Christian Science, wrote that “Philanthropy … wakens lofty desires, new possibilities, achievements, and energies…” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist and Miscellany, p. 287) Through naming rights gifts we would like to “waken lofty desires” and offer “new possibilities” for sustaining Christian Science nursing at Wide Horizon for decades to come. Donors may purchase naming rights to all buildings and some interior spaces.
In this way, Wide Horizon would like to achieve a goal of raising $3,000,000 in long term reserves in the last two years of the Wide Appeal for Sustainability campaign. We would also like to energize donors to create their own permanent legacies to Wide Horizon by honoring someone in perpetuity. *
For more information, including a list of properties and naming rights prices, contact Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach, at 303-403-2450.
* Names must be approved by the Wide Horizon Board of Directors.
As Wide Horizon is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your contributions are tax deductible (EIN 84-0415884)
