As Christian Scientists, we may sometimes wonder how we can best help a fellow Christian Scientist who is dealing with a physical or mental challenge. A verse from Hymn 105 addresses this yearning:
Help us to help each other, Lord,
Each other’s cross to bear;
Let each his friendly aid afford,
and feel his brother’s care.
With that in mind, Wide Horizon will be holding three workshops in May and June called Caring for One Another that will be led by two senior Journal-listed Christian Science nurses.
The schedule is as follows:
- The first workshop is on Saturday, May 21, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist, Denver.
- The second workshop is on Monday, June 13, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Fort Collins.
- The third workshop is on Saturday, June 18, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Colorado Springs.
All are invited to the workshop. If possible, we especially hope that members of Care Committees, ushers, and senior students in Sunday School can attend.
We included the senior Sunday School students because we think it will be good exposure for them to know about Christian Science nursing in case there is ever a need for it in their families or in their own lives. Also, perhaps they might find Christian Science nursing is a career they would like to consider.
The focus of the workshops will be on the spiritual basis for practical Christian Science nursing care, assistance with mobility, nourishment, ethics, and using Wide Horizon as a resource for Christian Science nursing.
If you are interested, please RSVP to Wide Horizon by contacting Norm Williams, Director of Development and Outreach, with your date and location selection either at 303-403-2450 or nwilliams@widehorizon.org. Also, if you have questions prior to the workshop, feel free to communicate them to Norm so the presenters can prepare for them.
Thank you for your consideration to participate and attend.
