Inpatient Christian Science Nursing Care is the primary service Wide Horizon provides to the community.
All guests are required to be receiving daily Christian Science treatment from a Christian Science practitioner listed in a current issue of The Christian Science Journal and are expected to be actively studying and practicing Christian Science. Some of our guests are mostly independent but require light care. Others receive greater assistance with activities of daily living from experienced Christian Science nursing personnel. All Christian Science Nursing Care guests receive the following services, if needed:
- Daily dressing and grooming
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Use of mobility aids
- Minor food modification
- Gentle reminders
All guests receive the following services:
- Daily bed-making
- Personal laundry
- Housekeeping
- Three daily meals
- Nurse call system
- Private room and bathroom
In addition, Christian Science nurses lovingly attend to the practical needs of those who are having difficulty eating or retaining food, breathing, moving about, who are confined to bed, have any kind of wound, or are overcoming the effects of a fall. Therefore, the advanced levels of care for patients under Christian Science Nursing Care may receive assistance in one or more of the following areas.
- Full bed care
- Preparation of special meals and nourishment, including food modification
- Individual feeding
- Cleansing and bandaging of wounds
- Special care when overcoming effects of a fall or injured limb
